Monica Nash has a disability, which prevented her from developing fully and having a career. However, she achieved academic success with a degree in French, she has had a lot of praise for her singing, and has produced a CD of folk songs connected with D.H. Lawrence, called “Songs and Lovers” which has been well received. She is an artist, and has shown her work in many local exhibitions, including the Summer Exhibition at the University gallery, for many years, and was an affiliate member of the Nottingham Society of Artists. She is directly related to Sir Joshua Reynolds and has done extensive research into his life and work, giving talks when her health permitted. She has been a member of the D.H. Lawrence Society and now the Dickens Fellowship, to which she contributes at socials by singing Victorian songs. She is a film buff, particularly of French film and film noir, and now, since being diagnosed with cancer, she is sending poems on a regular basis to the Nottingham Evening Post. She won their “Loo-ku” competition last year, and has won other, minor prizes for poetry in magazines. She is cared for by her husband, Stephen.
